-EDITORIAL PICK of Hong Kong Drone Port Competition
The Phoenix has long been known as the traditional bird of China. People believe that phoenix tears can heal wounds. Today’s cities have suffered a lot. From street congestion to various pollutions, all of which cause various damages to the human living environment. References indicate that 30% of transfers in Hong Kong in 2017 were related to freight services. The Phoenix project is looking for a solution to heal these urban wounds.
The skyline of Hong Kong Island is famed for its unique arrangement, with surrounding mountains and Victoria Harbour which allows us to use the height for the drone’s nest as well as the sea to deploy larger nests as connecting nodes. The underwater hangars are designed on 4 floors as control centers, which can be submerged in water if needed to transport the ship. The nests are also powered by sea waves, photovoltaic cells, and other clean energies. Also, Deep-sea pipes are installed between the Phoenix nests to transport goods to the most convenient destination for shipment. Finally, the tree form of the nest species is associated with the connection of nature outside the city with the urban context.
