-HONOURABLE MENTION of Re-Draw.04: Centre Pompidou Competition
The illustration represents the Pompidou Center as a living entity that takes place in the middle of its existing environment.
The image draws Pompidou through the metaphor of a robot composed of the striking architectural elements of this building. We find the staircase that follows the shape of the legs. The blue / red / green / yellow colored pipes supply and operate the living organism. The ventilation vents are drawing a face and the metal structure represents the skeleton, the backbone of this robot. As Renzo Piano said: “With Beaubourg, the idea was to make a space liner that lands in the middle of Paris”. Here this liner is a living body with cyberpunk looks that conserves the poetry of the place that hosts it. This is how the site remains identical to the existing one and how this space creature, this robot, feeds, cultivates and regenerates from what surrounds it.
To conclude, Renzo Piano said about this building: “It’s a building that pretends, it’s a parody of technology”

Jury Comments
– C_A_G_E_
“The project is super creative and reflects the spirit of Renzo Piano and Rogers. I like how each part has been split off from the whole and coherently reassembled in the shape of a robot, which is part of the city itself as the Center Pompidou still is today!“
– Architecture On Paper
“In this drawing the author sees the Pompidou Center as a living object that interacts with the city. It is not just a landmark in Paris but a building that breathes and beates through the parisian streets.”
