-HONOURABLE MENTION of Non Architecture Award 2022 Competition | Category: Urban & Landscape
When the city is viewed from the upper scale, it is seen that the continuity of the green area, walking path, historical and cultural buildings, road, and city walls are interrupted. It is possible to see these fractures as pixels when the city is viewed from the upper scale by zooming out. The concept of pixels defines the fragmented form of the city and the fractures. It is recommended to repair the fractures by zooming in pixels. Pixels also create the design nature on the city floor.
The design proposal, which aims to repair these fractures, connects the natural and built environment with the citizen, thanks to the cultural, wellness, gastronomy, and green routes.
Urban continuity in the Historic Peninsula is designed with the proposed bicycle path along the Theodosian Walls. The bicycle path, which changes/transforms/regulates the area it passes through, is designed together with the green area and pedestrian path along the Theodosian Walls. In areas where the urban texture is dense, the bicycle path has been continued at the upper level. In this way, the bicycle path has adapted to the existing city. The bicycle path can be described as the public spine. Along the spine, green spreads on the city floor. Green areas have risen on the z-axis and have turned into areas where people can sit and spend time and children can play.
Project Type:
The urban and landscape reconsideration project on Topkapı Square and throughout the Theodosian Walls
