The essence of the experiment: to try to connect the past with the future through art. To show the contrast of ancient ruins, to present them as a background for contemporary art as a representation of the world millennia later.
In this project, I wanted to encourage the community to have a discussion about the relationship to our past. Once the greatest emperor founded one of the most influential empires of all time, and built an engineering infrastructure that was unique for the time. But all that genius now looks like a sewer and is not used in any way. People live around and don’t even know what value is under their feet. Is it right to forget and ignore? What does it lead to? It seems to me if you don’t learn to appreciate the past, it will be difficult to build the future. Depreciation leads to apathy. And it’s destructive especially for architecture. The art gallery project should not only breathe new life into the ruins, but it should also show the whole way that humanity has travelled in the pursuit of knowledge of reality. After all, what is art but the mirror of our society.
