The project proposes a redevelopment plan for the area around the Sava River in Zagreb, Croatia. It aims to transform, unify and improve two areas, unconnected from each other and the river. It begins by delimiting the sector of action, proposing the construction of a bypass channel in the southern part, which has some control over flooding. Then, the plan suggests new bases to delimit and reorder the territory in different ways. On the one hand, it proposes a strip system that improves new mobility spaces for the subject. On the other hand, it also presents a “mesh” that is capable of adapting itself to the different urban grids creating new association spaces for users. Finally, a system of frequencies defines how and when the different urban elements which configure the public space appear. All this, reconstructs the city by repairing different interstices with the same philosophy. So, they become part of a unique system and so does the way in which the city is perceived. The project is explained from larger to smaller scale.
With this proposal to influence the territory, the way we have of building the city and living in community is reconsidered, as well as questioning where the limits of domesticity lead, understanding that the city could function as an extension of the house. A new piece of the urbs has emerged, with new rules and a new landscape. Now, one can get lost in it, wandering this drift while enjoying it.
