Sub Tel-Aviv,

During the next 50 years, the city of Tel Aviv in Israel, will absorb another half a million residents, and the city’s streets will become much more crowded.  

Doubling the size of the population means expanding the built-up area and foundations that will lead to increasing density.

The discussion about the future of urban space brings up the question; whether an update of the existing plan is enough to be required, or is it necessary that the tools and planning procedures themselves be updated?

Furthermore, the plans that intend to change the public transport system, especially when the tram and metro lines open, are an opportunity for redesigning the street level in a layered and complex way. These changes may gradually release the areas that are now designated for parking and allow them to be turned into other use.

Construction in the underground area is gaining acceleration, especially the entrance and exit points from the metro, which will create the city’s new intensive interface points and become complex and three-dimensional urban intersections.

The project examines one site, where in our assessment hidden opportunity exist and enable interfering and changing the ground floor.
