Exploring ‘’TRACES’’ – A Proposal for a Large-Scale Ecological Strategy & Landscape Design of the abandoned mines in the Shandong Mines Area for Tourism and Economic Development.
We are proposing a sustainable development strategy and design approach to develop a roadmap for Eco-tourism while exploring the ‘’TRACES’’ related to the Shandong Mines Area. The word ‘Trace’ means – a mark, object, or other indication of the existence or passing of something. In the proposal ‘’Traces’’ means – 1.The exposed abandoned mine areas, 2.The traditional human settlements; 3.The historical significance of the ceramic industry; 4.The unique natural character and; 5.The unique cuisine of Shandong which are prepared and cooked with local resources – The human civilisation traces that are unique to the proposed site, that exists or can be recreated for recreational purposes.
We also propose a ‘’LEAVE NO TRACES’’ strategy for the post development. This is an innovative way to adopt principles to protect against further environmental damage and instilling a new environmental branding strategy. The main aim is to promote eco-tourism, ecologically & spatially mitigating the natural impairment while celebrating nature.
