The RollingShandong project acts as a link between the rural areas of Zichuan and those areas abandoned after mining. Its recreational component makes it a focus for tourism, which will revitalise rural environments by reviving economic activity.
The incorporation of technology in RollingShandong encourages the creation of cultural spaces related to the roller coaster route, by hosting different festivals and activities that promote a greater knowledge of local traditions. Moreover, this technology will help to recover the native flora damaged by the mining industry.
The stages seek to generate a neutral space capable of hosting all types of exhibitions, from the most classic to the most technological. It is understood as a changing space, where the architectural structures can be modified, with sufficient dimensions to accommodate large influxes of people and to support the necessary facilities to be transformed into a digital exhibition, full of lights, sounds and optical effects.
The cylindrical structure will take advantage of the water from one of the lagoons nearby for its irrigation system and will incorporate a seed diffusion network with the aim of replanting the area with species native to the area.
