-EDITORIAL PICK of Amsterdam Cycling Bridge Competition
Derived as a mechanical organism, this featured cycling bridge in BnCYCLE mag playfully connects Amsterdam’s Cycling culture with its beautiful canal environment to allow the many local cyclist a communal bridge where bicycle mechanics/play, marine life and water recreation can be culturally, educationally and comically experienced.
The bridge is comprised of 4 subcategories of programmatic and operational experiences within 1-2 depths of interconnected ecosystems:
Subcategory A – The direct experiential link for the cyclist, where hanging bicycle rental stations reinvent conventional rideshare. An “on-bridge” cycling class to train for competition while powering the lateral movement of the bridge to open passage for shipping and cruise liners. And vertical shops bridge the cyclist connection of above and below water worlds while getting their bikes fixed, or shopping for spare parts!
Subcategory B – The linear cycle environments in which cyclists are free to roam and interact with performative systems influencing bicycle culture, such as air-pumps, charging stations, and an outdoor fitness area!
Subcategory C – Cycling doesn’t have to stop once it reaches water… paddle boats! The bicycle of the sea!
Subcategory D – The dynamic autonomous mechanics that allow for year round fluid enjoyment across, on and below the canal.
