Java island was built in 1900 for the parking bay of large ocean-going ships. When the port closed, this harbour district was developed as a residential area with ships metaphors concept. The concept of knot is used to suit the existing physical development, since knot is one of the important to bind any part of the ship. The intention of the bridge design is to bind the existing open space and landmarks of the urban fabric from each island. It is translated as a circular form with bended walkways to subtly simulate the knot.

Furthermore, this circular part of the bridge is situated right in the middle Ij River as the main feature for 360deg view of the landmarks and the river itself.  The connecting bridge between each island is designed with seating and bike parking area for people to take a quick rest and enjoy the surroundings.
