-FINALIST of Amsterdam Cycling Bridge Competition
During rush hours, Amsterdam is confronted with numerous bicycle traffic jams. Added to this, and despite a very important network, the overcrowded and too small bicycle paths pose real problems of saturation, incivilities, and accidents, which are also found in the parking area. In fact, this means of transport, which was originally intended to bring health and a better quality of life to the inhabitants, is becoming a stress generator.
So in this city where the space dedicated to transportation is largely taken by the car, how to give a breath of air to the bicycle which represents the real traffic?
Bee cycling proposes an urban and futuristic approach to a new cycling network on the roofs of Amsterdam, with the bridge as its runway.
Indeed, we wish to dissociate the flows and thus reduce the crossings of the various users of the road, but also to give again the taste of the bicycle and the place with the wellbeing.
For us, the city is a field in which people come to forage. We buy, we work, we eat… And to connect these points, the accesses are done by the air like bees.
