–FINALIST of Re-Nature Rome Competition
Everyone living in or coming to Rome is contributing to the food waste crisis that is reshaping how the natural world functions. In particular, it is forcing animals to feed in an unbalanced and unhealthy manner, which will eventually impair the broader ecosystem that we live in.
TableToGarden(TTG) is an innovative recycling system that diverts food waste from the trash stream, while promoting public engagement and artistic perspectives. Focusing on transparency, automatization, and response speed in the treatment process, TTG first facilitates decentralized participation and transport efficiency through a standardized “seed unit” registering time and location. Trucks can pick them up based on digital reminders and bring them to scattered “harvest towers” in the city. Next, with the assistance of automation, the towers openly display the treatment process and produce compost that is rewarded to public participants. As a result, recreation and education initiatives can evolve and emerge from this opportunity. For example, compost products can be used to support street and roof gardens.
TTG is an environmentally friendly and inclusive infrastructure. The waste you throw today can be a gift tomorrow. The concept encourages everyone to be a part of biodiversity protection and a sustainable future.
