The Regression to Idyllic is an urban design that stretches all over central Rome which consists of 3 locations — Piazza Navona, Colosseum, and the Bath of Caracalla, connected by a green belt in the form of ancient Rome aqueduct.
The project aims to renature by ‘re-ancient’, through introducing the arcadian lifestyle of the Roman Empire era into the city, different levels of ecosystem is created while returning the habitat to the animals.
Renovating the 3 tourist spots according to its original functions and the phenomenon of land and water, the Piazza Navona is transformed into a racecourse and weekend market; in the Colosseum and the Bath of Caracalla, a miniature for land and aquatic animals are created.
In addition to the specific spots, the bridge connecting the whole city acted as a green belt for people to walk through Rome as well as a layered transportation system. Vehicles and bikes can access the first level; on the second level, people are able to transit in the form of horse riding; on the third level, urban farming and a self-sufficient lifestyle are achieved through the planting of trees.
