–FINALIST of Re-Nature Rome Competition
Eternal City of Rome evolved around classical principles of balance between nature and people, design thus brings back this concept to spruce up an aqueduct to strengthened biodiversity in today’s context discovering a new way of people and nature living together within the boundaries of eternal city. Winding through the arches, meandering over the aqueduct, encroaching the juxtaposed scape. The ‘Aquaeen’ reciprocates between the ancient builds and the contemporary outlooks. With a sanded spread, Rome lays barren in terms of ‘playful green’, the green that carries ahead the visions of expansion, as was the past. The aqueducts, once the medium of water itself, carried ahead an amenity, the geo-political weight, and a social asset. The same aqueducts have now metamorphosed into an array of softscapes, riddled with webs and brimming with the same curiosity it can instil in a man, woman, and child about nature, its gears and us ourselves. Greens via ducts is proposal for enhancement of public space and inculcating physical activity through accessible green paths and wellbeing in citizens.
