“Perspectives” surprises us with a proposal that reminds us of Piranesi’s engravings. The representation of dystopia with a city in ruins that has become uninhabitable and has moved humans to the underground world, contrasts with a utopia with a wild and strong nature that becomes the protagonist in the absence of human life. In this way, it poses a very interesting question: does our world need for us humans to disappear as a species for utopia to be possible?

It’s a simply stunning piece, where the simplicity of the section and the representation style gave space to a powerful message to stand out. The mixture between older styles with a futuristic vision gives it a timeless tone, increasing the strength of the work in relation to competition call.

A beautifully crafted image that captures the Utopian/Dystopian subject matter. The stylistic choices invite the viewer into the image revealing a strong narrative around fear and the destructive nature present in all of us. Juxtaposed with an idyllic scenario with only the subtlest of hints of human habitation, almost placing nature and humanities integration into the ecosystem above all else.

‘Perspectives’ is a strong representation of the potential impact that war and peace have on cities and how this is translated in the nature around them. A city at war consuming the land towards its core, opposed to a city at peace that makes it flourish. Beautifully crafted, it portrays two fantastic halves in an engraved style that makes them timeless, addressing the relevance of war in the culture of the past and the future.
