– EDITORIAL PICK of 2020 Monument Competition
A monument to all is a place that gather everyone.
Instead of celebrating a person or an event of the past, it focuses on the present and the body in space.
A body is what we all have, whatever the religion, origins or the age.
The spatial installation takes place in our massive cities. Its role is to offer a variety of spaces, progressively isolating the visitor from the visual and sonor aggressivity of a town.
The procession starts with wide ‘theatre like’ spaces, follow by a variety of inside spaces, from the narrowest to the highest, and end in the centre, where the only things left to the eye are the white curve of the dome, the body and the sky.
These spaces are appropriable by all and can be experienced alone or in groups.
As it is a break from the town, the monument is only made of two elements: a ground carving and a pierced dome, in order to avoid walls or borders.
The aim of this monument is to cut us from the craziness of our societies and to remember us of what we are all, humans.
